Attempted to recreate a döner but failed hard lol. The stars come off because the fries were extra hard and the price was really high
I dropped in for lunch with my fiancé and we ordered 2 Souvlaki Chicken Plates, one with rice and the other with French fries. The food was just simply okay, it wasn't bad but it also wasn't flavorful. The chicken and rice both could've used more seasoning. The salad looked fresh and fragrant but it had hardly any taste. The french fries were the best by far. Otherwise, the restaurant is nice inside and the staff was nice.
We were excited to see Nick The Greek come to the Village! Of course parking is always an issue in the village around lunchtime, we had to park pretty far away and walk over. We got a lunch to go and I got the pork belly gyro with fries and my wife got the beef & lamb gyro bowl. I enjoyed my gyro, it was tasty and the portion of fries was pretty sizeable so that was a plus! My wife enjoyed her bowl as well. The only real downsides here were the fries did not keep well on the ride home, they ended up pretty soggy so I di... read more
I'd say this chain is just ok. Their Greek salad is very basic with tomatoes and cucumber. Wish you could order a large lettuce Greek salad. The plates are ok, service is ok. Price is a tad high for what you get. Over it's ok, wish there were good choices.
Not sold yet. Been twice. The chicken souvlaki was much better than beef/lamb gyro. Their gyro meat had little flavor. Their tzatziki sauce is pretty much just dull sauce. The gyro veggies were dismal--two minor slivers of tomato! Their fries both times taste old/cold...first time not even crunchy. This time soggy but with some crunch, but seemed cold-like they were under heat lamp too long. For their prices, should step up their game! I will say, one of three kabobs of their chicken was excellently grilled--two were taken o... read more
Full disclosure, I honestly come here way too often. I'm so obsessed with Nick the Greek. It's been this way for about a year now and things are still going strong. I used to drive all the way to the Union city location, so once the Castro valley location opened up (way closer to my home) I was overjoyed! Here's what I like to eat: Baklava - 10/10 Gyro Bowl - 10/10 Prasini Salad - 10/10 Pita & humus - 10/10 Greek fries - 10/10 It's basically 10s all across the board. I must admit, everything on the menu is amazing! I usua... read more
Great food, and it's filling. The kids loved it also! The kids meals come in a cool box. Way cooler than a happy meal. Customer service is good.
I'm so happy this place opened in castro Valley!!! The food is great! I've been here 4 times in 3 weeks and food comes out fast, fresh, hot and delicious. I've tried most of the items on the menu, beef and lamb gyro, chicken Slovaki plate, the greek salad and they have all been delicious. The staff is very friendly and efficient. Overall great food and service!
Five stars because there's no other Greek in town, so thank you for coming to Castro Valley! Takeout style Gyros, Falafels, kebobs and the like. Seems a little expensive for takeout, but I get it that costs have risen. Very good and fresh food. The variety of fries are a yummy addition. They've never heard of Tahini, which is very weird to me. Makes me especially glad to have another place that I can go to for my half vegetarian / half carnivore family.
