Ordered a gyro bowl from this Nick the Greek in Castro Valley and found a small insect in the lettuce. Pretty concerning from a food safety standpoint. I removed it, but it definitely ruined the meal.

Nick the Greek is usually pretty consistent with the food. So hopefully that is the case because we haven't gotten home to eat our food. So I'm sure it's pretty decent. The atmosphere was great very clean great restaurant. Today is Sunday, March 8, 2026. The time is 3:50 PM. My experience with the cashier (Sierra ) was not the greatest! she had a really bad frown on her face and a seemed to be negative attitude. Ordered 2 Gyro Plates & very disappointed with the chicken gyro plate. The chicken was extremely dry & jerky like. The basmati rice was ok & the highlight to this plate was the fresh & flavorful salad consisting of blue cheese, tomato, & olives. The Beef & Lamb plate was a lot better. The meat was shaved off the skewer & was dry but by far not as dry as the chicken("jerky"). In the future I would just stick to my Beef/Lamb Gyro & do without the plate. Very rude female cashier! Asked her three times "Can I also order some yogurt sauce?", and she said the gyro comes with mustard sauce. (Which I knew) Then I looked down and saw a cooler with two types of yogurt sauce and explained that I'd like one of those. Bad attitude and seemed like she was not listening. Chose not to eat there as wouldn't trust them with my food with that kind of attitude.

The CV Nick the Greek used to be a decent option--nothing amazing, but a reliable place to grab a quick meal. Unfortunately, my last couple of visits have pretty much convinced me not to go back. The customer service has really slipped. The staff feels unwelcoming, and the overall vibe is like you're bothering them just by ordering. The food quality has dropped, too. Worst possible experience ever!!! If I could give negative stars, I would. Not only was my mobile order 15 minutes late - I was standing in the restaurant waiting for it, and at 10-minutes-late mark, asked about the order and was told they're "cooking the chicken" and asked whether I "wanted my chicken raw" - when I got home 10 minutes later and opened the order, I found - not warm, not even lukewarm - but right out cold chicken skewers, cold steak skewer, and cold greek fries. This is not ok, I want my money back!!!

Cashiers with long pink nails and stank attitude. Bathrooms are gross couldn't let my child use that bathroom in that condition. Tables were dirty and service was bad but the food and the presentation was okay. I'll make my orders at a different location for my mental sake next time.

Decided to order my favorite gyro salad for a take out for my dinner not knowing they had discontinued that for about a month already. Didn't know what they offer for other kinds and couldn't look it up since I was driving, I ordered Greek salad with lamb ......what a mistake! Most of salad was raw onion and green bell pepper not to mention a whole bunch of cheese......

Send the first one back!!!!!! Cold like it was setting !!! Next one still cold hardly anything on it and the taste was horrible!!!! My last time here !!!!!!!
