THE STORY The idea was born in 2012 after visiting the birth place of the gyro, Greece, on the founders annual trip to their hometown village. Wondering why there were no decent gyros or souvlakia in California, we decided to form our own modern souvlaki/gyro house. The three cousins Nick, Nick and Nick, returned home to open what else? "Nick the Greek," in February of 2014. Our menu features flavorful rotisserie meats, charbroiled skewers, zesty sauces, and the freshest of vegetables. With two generations of family experien... read more

It's a good sign when the venue is busy on a weekday lunch. We stopped in last week finally to try the gyros. Really good value - huge sandwiches (is a gyro a sandwich? I think, yes!). Authentic flavor on the lamb/ beef combo, not stingy on the tzatiki, soft fluffy pita. The fries inside the gyro are a little weird, but they were tasty. We'll return to try other menu items - looking forward to the falafel and Greek Fries.

The food is always good here. It has become a little pricy. The atmosphere is kind of cafeteria like. They do a ton of to-go orders. The gyros are as good as any in town. You order at the counter when you come in. they bring your food to the table. Friendly people/service.

Nice to have a new Greek restaurant. The food was good. It was very clean. The employees were courteous and answered the questions that I had. You order your meal at the counter and sit wherever you want. The only thing to make it better (for me) would be if they had Spanakopita. I recommend everyone give Nick the Greek a try.

We've been here twice now as it's conveniently (and dangerously) close to my work. Both times we've loved our food! I've gotten the pork belly gyro both times and the meat is crazy tender and flavorful. The pita tastes fresh and doesn't overpower the flavors of the gyro itself. If you get it as a meal, I strongly encourage you to get the Greek fries. They add feta and green onions on already salty, crispy fries. Even just their regular fries are tasty, topped with za'tar seasoning. If you like Greek food you'll love this pla... read more

Update to my review... Just returned and as promised I'm updating my review. Service was fast and food was great. One of my family's favorite's already. Great job on getting through to bumps of opening. Highly recommend and will return often. Upgrading to 5-stars!

Business response:

I’m sorry about our service Aaron. Our food is prepared/cooked to order/ticket and with hundreds of people coming through the door non stop from the moment we open it’s inevitable that orders take a little long. With the size kitchen we have we can only move as fast as the food is prepared and we want to make sure it’s done right. Some things like salads and certain items do come out faster than others. It has been less than a week since opening and my staff is doing their best. I’m sorry about your experience and hopefully ... read more

There was a lot of hype coming into this place, so we tried it for lunch... wasn't busy around 12:30pm on a Tuesday. We walked into as I recall this location used to be the old Baja Fresh, overall layout stayed the same but nice upgraded tile walls and decor. We tried to order the Chicken souvlaki pita and subbed the normal fries for nicks loaded chicken fries. & Chicken Gyro but they were out of the chicken gyro meat. so we opted for the chicken gyro bowl. Chicken souvlaki pita and subbed the normal fries - the chick... read more

I love Greek Food. I have been wishing for good Greek food in Reno for a long time. Now it is here. The menu is not huge but the food is great. The people are wonderful. The location is easy to get into and out of. I had the gyro and fries. The gyro was great. I was surprised to find fries in the gyro but they were good. The fries on the side were great. Loved the seasoning. Had the Greek donuts for dessert (I can't spell the real word) and they were yummy! Not as good as the ones the yayas make at the Greek festival but nob... read more

The food was good, the service was OK, but it really isn't the best Greek food I've ever had. I think the food was overpriced.

Good, though not great basic Greek food - mostly Souvlaki and Gyros. Didn't try the desserts, but the Gyros were good, and I'd go back again. Got takeout, so I didn't care about the ambiance, which was basically like a fast food place. Service for takeout was good - food was ready and pickup was efficient.
