I first had Nick The Greek in Davis, and absolutely loved it! I was naturally very excited when one opened in Santa Barbara. After only being open a couple of weeks, it was packed on a weekday evening; a good sign as there have been so many gyro/kebab restaurants come and go over the years, and I absolutely love gyros! Went for my first time and ordered the lamb gyro and side salad- both amazing! Service was very fast and the cashier was friendly.
The staff here were great! Very friendly. The salad was fresh but didn't have much flavor. The lamb meat was delicious and perfectly cooked. Pita bread had some fantastic spices on it to give it a great taste. French fries were also solid. The restaurant was very clean and there were fun decorations. I'll be back for sure!
Step into Nick The Greek Santa Barbara and you are transported to a warm, friendly environment reminiscent of the Greek Taverns in the Villages - and this is coming from a Greek! The food is quick and tasty. The people are so kind - I got to meet some of the guys that own that restaurant and you can tell they are SO passionate about the food and the customer's experience. Delicious food, quick service & super clean! It's so nice having Greek in DT Santa Barbara.
I walked in at 11:30 on Tuesday and they told me all the meat is going to be used for online orders and not taking walk in orders. Why have a state street store front??!? What kind of business doesn't allocated for walk in. Definitely not going there ever again. Bad business.
The first guy who started to take our order was awesome, then the "chef" stepped in and was a complete A+ jerk. My wife ordered the chicken gyros it had at least 1/2 cup mayonnaise and mustard sauce WT I had the beef lamb gyros. It barely had any flavor. I also ordered the Greek salad with the dressing on the side. I wanted to take it home for dinner. The dressing was on it. So at dinner time it was just mush.
