When I need a quick lunch option in Downtown San Mateo, Nick the Greek is one of my go-tos . There's lot's of great food options along the 3rd and 4th street corridor for fresh, interesting, and healthy foods but I come back to Nick for their juicy and flavorful Chicken Souvlaki Pita. Nick the Greek is a great option for quick Mediterranean food. There are many locations in the Bay Area. However, not all locations execute the same. This specific location in downtown is probably the most consistent. Their food is always fresh. The chicken is always moist. Highly recommend it if you are in downtown San Mateo.
Ordered dinner through DoorDash. Got the beef/lamb and chicken gyro. Both were delicious and very well priced. Glad I found a simple, great take out place to be a regular at.
OVERALL: Downtown San Mateo is a fun leisurely area, with B Street blocked off for pedestrians, lots of outdoor seating in the area, but not this specific restaurant. The ceilings are high, so it feels more airy. Just a general great spot for some good food! Fountain options for soda or iced tea, also had bottled soda and water. Everyone here was so helpful! I had to place a very late catering order and the manager personally touched base with me to reconfirm details and to reconfirm delivery on the day of the event. Highly recommend ordering from this location!
You want simple ingredients, Mediterranean inspired flavors, and a quick bite to eat? Nick the Greek has you covered. The chain seems to be popping all over the place and there is an appreciating for the consistency across all the branches. I've been to many Nick the Greeks but this location by far is the best one I've been to. The food was great per usual as I always order the classic gyro bowl. Our server Demetria very kind and helpful.
Food was very good and well priced. It os well located and easy to access. Definitely recommended!
