Like a lot of Santa Maria residents, I've been waiting for the Nick the Greek restaurant to open-- for two years! Today they had a grand opening with free food from 11:00 to 2:30, so I thought that would be a great way to try it. I waited in line for half an hour or so, but it was so worth the wait! I was expecting a sample plate or maybe a limited menu, but they allowed each guest to choose an entree, a side, and a beverage, which I thought that was very generous! This restaurant doesn't officially open until June 12. Today's June 9. I was scrolling on DoorDash and noticed that they were there and open so I ordered. I got the Gyro plate which came with a Greek salad. I also got an order of the Greek donuts. My donuts were missing the nuts on top but other than that everything was exactly how I ordered it.
